Football, Hair, Phone & Cam

I've never screamed so much for football. 90 minutes plus another half an hour and then penalty. Oh my goodness. Both teams played their hearts out but you could see after the first half they were pretty tired. The ref was an absolute ass. Seriously. But Brazil did awesome. Rooting for them, Germany and Netherlands.  Crazy, crazy, crazy crowd last night lol. Waiting for the final match. We're all planning to paint our faces and get jerseys :D I've got bangs again after almost 3 years. Very 'Cleopatra' with my already relaxed hair.  Heh. Was a spur of the moment decision. Mom isn't happy about it though :P Hair grows so it's really no big deal and I love it :3 I got a new phone a couple of weeks back so I've started talking selfies and I can honestly say that I now understand the whole 'selfie' craze. I really do. Got the Lenovo A650 upon recommendation. No regrets. It's fantastic. Doesn't lag. Very easy to use. Smo...

Crossroads

You know it's true when they say it's good to go for long walks with some good music playing in your ears to clear your head. Things seem to be all over the place right now and I don't know how to fix anything or even if things need to be fixed in the first place. So many thoughts jumbled up in my head. All these dreams I had about what my future would hold and how I'd somehow get through all these never ending hurdles. I'm trying to sort it all out one by one but it's exhausting and it just drains you, ya know? You think you know what you want for the rest of your life and there you are still growing, still learning, wanting new things as days go by. Went for an hour long brisk walk around the apartment. So hooked to Sam Smith's Stay With Me.  Took the stairs up to the 20th floor, totally drenched and was rewarded with such a beautiful view. Blue skies, grey clouds, lightning coming in from the distance. Sounds dark and e...

Of Trips & Thoughts

I've just spent the whole morning watching Season 10 re-runs of Grey's Anatomy while having chocolate coated digestives. Am back home again for a while. Spent some time in KL before coming back home. Met up with long lost relatives, stayed in a really swanky hotel, satisfied all my food cravings and shopped (although not 'till I dropped). We stayed near The Curve this time round instead of Bukit Bintang. This was The Royale Chulan Hotel just behind The Royale Bintang. You're greeted by this really sweet smell as you get out of the car at the main entrance and it's so lovely. There was a wedding reception going on when we arrived. Everyone was dressed in gowns and tuxedos and champagne flutes were being served by smart looking waiters. J came over that night and we had a bite to eat and some drinks at the coffee house which was open 'till about 2 in the morning (to our convenience xD). The hallway to our room. Quite similar to the Taj Hotel we...

Tough Luck

I'm at my wits end trying to fit in where I don't belong.  For years I've struggled with finding the right friends, with finding the kind of people who think like me and like the things I like and enjoy the things I enjoy. But I can't do it anymore. I just can't do it anymore. I had the same problem in primary school. In lower secondary when I switched schools I had to adapt and it worked for a while and then again in upper secondary when I went back to my previous school, despite the temporary culture shock, I found friends who shared similar interests. Friends whom I could connect with on every level.  It continued as I went on to do my A Levels. And then it came to a screeching halt when I came down south. I am Indian. I understand Tamil. If absolutely necessary, I will speak said language. But I come from an English-speaking background. I always have come from an English speaking background and nobody can say or do anything to change t...

Scrubs

We went to the Regency Specialist Hospital today. Had a tour around the place. Have been there so many times within the last 3 years.  They've done it up and it looks really good. We were divided into 2 groups but lucky for us, the group I was in was taken into the operation theatre for a proper look around. We had to change into scrubs (never have I been so mortified at having to take my clothes off in front of other girls x_x) and had to wear anti-static shoes. And then we took pictures :P And I Whatsapp-ed a few to dad. That feeling you get when you know how proud your parents are of you is simply priceless. *coughcoughCode Blue/Grey's Anatomycough*

Field Trip Visit

We visited a home care center last Friday. Left in the morning. We were all divided into groups and were told to go around and talk to the occupants and to have a look at their medical case files.  There was this one occupant (or patient. I don't really know how to classify) who has been in a semi-vegetative state for nearly 20 years due to a severe motorbike accident. His left occipital region had to be removed and he went through a tracheotomy. He's currently deaf, mute and is totally dependent for care. He couldn't talk. He couldn't do anything.  It made me realize that even as doctors there are and will always be limitations as to what we can do to help. We can help save lives but we can't always bring them back to how they used to be. It was so, so very sad to see that man in such a condition. Sensing our presence, he was responding in his own way by moving his head and making noises. Said a silent prayer before leaving his bed side and moved on to meet...

May

It's been nearly a month since my last post. Simply haven't had anything to blog about. Was home for a little while last month. Mid semester exams going on at the moment. Everything's pretty much the same. Cut my hair about two weeks ago when I was in KL. Made an appointment at A Cut Above in Pavilion and one of the senior stylists gave me a long bob which I absolutely adore coz it's so much easier to maintain.  So many changes on the way. Mixed feelings about it.  But change is good, no? Current song obsession: A Great Big World's Already Home. Replaying and replaying it until it's etched to my brain so I change the key and try recording it. John Legend's All of Me was great. It really was. The richness of his voice. And to be able to sing it with almost the same depth of feeling was incredible. Hoping this new one works out just as nicely. Fingers crossed!

Pretty Flowers Everywhere

Not sure if it's the season or something but all these big beautiful trees around the apartment have suddenly started to flower and I can't stop going for long lazy walks just to stare in awe. They're sooooo pretty!  This one's my favourite. Possibly because it's all alone at one corner of the apartment grounds and looks so beautiful by itself. Apparently it's the same back home as well. Oh I could so get used to this :3

22 Things Upon Turning 22

I've been meaning to write this post for some time now. And by sometime I mean for about a year or so. Things I have come to realize, mostly. 1.  Be positive. Think happy thoughts. Don't let one bad day ruin your whole year. 2. If your mom tells you not to mix with that one friend of yours, listen to her. She's probably met her fair share of weird characters in uni so she knows a bitch or a bastard when she lays eyes on one, she just doesn't tell you in so many words. Take heed. 3. Stretch marks are NORMAL. Some people hide it very well. Some simply can't. 4.  Judging someone is not nice. We've all made stupid mistakes. Bear in mind that what goes around always comes around in due time. 5. Classical music is NOT old people's music. It's an acquired taste. Like sushi. And me.  6.  Verbal abuse can be as bad as physical abuse. Walk away from anyone who does this to you. 7. You can't please everyone. Do what you thi...

My Surprise 22nd

The gang surprised me with a belated birthday bash last night. Exactly one month after my actual birthday (since I was at home and down with dengue last month). And it was one of the best surprises I've ever been given to date coz I've never felt so lost and confused all at once. Lol. We had class in the morning until about noon and there was supposed to be another class in the afternoon so the girls and I left our bags at our respective places and went back to snooze for a while. About half an hour before the afternoon class we're told that it's canceled -.- We had to go back to campus to get our bags. Since we were out I thought we could all go for ice cream so we headed over to Baskin Robbins and we stuffed ourselves with our favourite flavours. By the time we finished there it was already around four something I think. We got something for tea for the others and headed back to the apartment to see them for a while. Then we decided to watch a movie in...
