An Unfortunate Misfortune

I'd like to think of myself as a rather careful/cautious driver (my friends are nodding in agreement). But no matter how careful you are as a driver on the road, there will always, always be other drivers who will do something and casually and very conveniently put the blame on you. This is exactly what happened about 3 hours ago. I was turning out of a junction and I had my signal indicating that I wanted to get onto the right lane. There was a long queue of cars so I had to slowly ease my way into the line. As soon as I saw an opening, I put on my right signal and moved in. There was a Mitsubishi Grandis behind my car as I moved into the right lane. All of a sudden, after I get into that lane this Mitsubishi guy suddenly over-takes me from the right. And mind you this was a single lane, which means he actually cut into the opposite side of the road as he was over-taking my car. While doing this little stunt of his, the left back door of his car came into cont...

Umm. Lanterns & Locks?

First week of second year has come and gone. Our lecturers are pretty good but the best one has got to be Dr Kishore for Pathology. My God he's an absolute genius. His jokes are so witty, so intellectual. "It's painfully annoying but I'll try my best to make it (Pathology) amusingly entertaining."  He doesn't come in with anything. Just a marker pen. No slide notes, no power point presentations, nothing. He either just sits down in front of the class and talks and talks and talks or he fills up the whole board with information we need to know. That's it. And his analogies are soooo easy to understand, relate to and remember. Really hope he stays 'till the very end and doesn't leave us halfway to go back to India. Fingers crossed. Money seems to be running out faster than water these days. Bills, groceries, stationery, photocopied notes, books and so many other things to buy and get sorted. Things have been so hectic this wee...

Weekend Escape

Spent the weekend in KL. Cousin's wedding reception in the evening. Decided to try curls for a change instead of always having my hair blow-dried straight. And I have to say (please excuse me for sounding vain) I felt pretty hot. :3 Wondering now if I should consider perming it like this for a while and then relaxing it again OR if I should just get it curled temporarily again whenever I feel like it. Decisions, decisions.  Stayed at the Grand Seasons Hotel which was quite close the where the dinner was. Was so-so.  But the view from our room was rather nice.  Took this one yesterday at around 7.20 in the evening. And this one at around noon today. Went to Mid Valley and The Gardens just before coming back. It's amazing how nice hair can get you attention, seriously. In the lift as we were going down to the lobby there was this Indian dude who looked North Indian or something (a little on the chubby side but not bad. Heh.) The whole lift was ...

The Rose Petal Beach

Another read I recently picked up by Dorothy Koomson. Her stories are always so detailed, so different, so interesting. This one's about Tami and Scott.  I never wanted a boyfriend before. I remember how I always used to say how much I never want to eventually get married.  But things have changed. My mind's made up. And it can't be that bad waking up for the rest of your life to someone who never fails to take your breath away, right? "Here's the thing I don't like about being single: Waking up alone. The rest of it I really can handle. No matter what other people might try to tell me. It's this part I find hardest. I long to have someone to sleep with. You can get the sex anywhere, it's all around you and you can pluck it out of the air almost - if you're willing to compromise (a lot) on quality, usually - but it's difficult, really difficult to find someone you connect with enough to sleep with. I love waking up with a man...

Spa @ Thistle

Eyelids can barely stay open right now but I have to blog about this before I forget the details. Got back from Thistle about an hour and a half ago after my two and a half hour spa session. Oh my gosh. It was amazing . Absolutely amazing. (Hashtag happy child). Made an appointment for 3.30 this afternoon. Reached ten minutes earlier and waited for a while as they set everything up. Was ushered into the seating area and asked to make myself comfortable on one of the plush leather single seat sofas. I literally sunk in when I sat. About 5 minutes later, they bring a big, big bowl of hot water and put in crystals of some sort and 2 slices of lime and my feet were left to soak for about 10 minutes. Was also served a hot cup of ginger tea with the slightest hint of sweetness. Once my feet were rubbed down with those crystals, they were wiped and put into house slippers. And yes they actually put your feet into the slippers for you. All you have to do is sit back and rela...

Amazeballs

These past few days after exams have been really, really busy. Yesterday was the best yet, though. The most fun I've had in such a long time. Laughed so much during dinner until I started crying. Not just tearing. I mean actually crying .  On Saturday we decided to check out the Euro Fun Park in town. Ended up waiting 2 hours just to get into the car park area. Left and went to Singgah Selalu for dinner instead. Such a bloody waste of time. Really not worth waiting so long just to get in.   We went out at around 1.30 in the afternoon once I got back from church. Went to KSL first. Had a mani-pedi appointment there at 3pm (No where near as good as Kuku Spa though) and then at around 4 we went to City Square. Walked around. Stuffed ourselves with food and drinks. Shamelessly took pictures. Heh.  To kill time while waiting for the shops at the bazaar to open, we went to Roost. Had the whole place to ourselves for about 2 hours. Successfully convinced the girl...

Memories Are Made of This

Got back to the apartment at around 5 this evening. The cabbie was really chatty. Has a professional certificate in IT it seems but loves driving so he's thinking of permanently having his own cab to transport people to and from airports. How convenient this has somehow worked out for me coz now whenever I need to get to the airport I have someone reliable to call instead of always having to get help from close friends. Flight back was alright. Was seated next to a girl for a change. Gave L a call as soon as I got back asking if anyone was hungry. By about 6 we were at McD chowing down burgers.  After eating we wanted to head over to the pet shop but since today is Eid it was closed. Didn't want to get back just yet.  Drove to Permas Mall where I found the place for a little something I need to get done at the end of the month after exams. Walked around a bit and (finally) checked out The Sugar Pantry. Very chic Very nice. Sat down there for a while. Still didn...

And It's August. Yay.

Really doesn't feel like I'm about to have two weeks of torturous exams to mark the end of my first year of medical school. Being home is always nice but more so now than ever, what with moving house and all. I get to spend so much time with the dogs and daddy and I take them out for their walks every evening without fail. I've been sleeping so soundly since I got back. No need to worry about falling sick coz mom's always around. No need to worry about what I'm gonna eat every day. No need to head out every two or three days to stock up on food stuff. I get to cook whenever I want coz the fridge is always so well stocked. I get to bake anything, anytime I want.  I actually miss home now, whenever I have to head back down south. I miss home a lot . Went back to my music school last Sunday to visit my piano teacher. Memories came flooding back as soon as I started walking up the stairs. It's been years since I went back for a visit. How many hours I u...

I Can't Think Of A Title Sorry

Am back home for a while. We're all on study break at the moment. Professional exams start second week of August. Got back sometime middle of last week. MAS flights are pretty cheap if you're lucky but unlike Air Asia and Firefly, 95% of the people traveling are in suits and carry briefcases or laptop bags.  Business class travelers.  All of them. One of my most interesting short travel experiences so far, though. I had a window seat so on my left was this Chinese dude in Levi's, a Hard Rock T and a black blazer. Had two very expensive looking phones with him (hard not to notice when he was right next to me) and was happily chatting away until we were told to keep away electronic devices. At one point he dozed off. Funny how much less attractive people look when they're asleep. Mouth open, head going 'helicopter' and all. Once I reached KLIA I headed down to the bus terminal. I had about fifteen minutes to walk from our arrival gate all the way down.  ...

We Went North Yindian

Surprised mom for her birthday last Friday. Took a bus back Thursday night and reached early Friday morning (bloody eight hours with at least eight stops in between :@). Reserved a table at Tandoor Grill. A newly opened high-end North Indian Restaurant in town. It was. Amazing.  Honestly I can't remember the names of the dishes we ordered but they tasted as good as what we get whenever we go to India. This was grilled chicken, if I'm not mistaken, stuffed with more chicken, nuts and cheese.  Hyderabad Biryani.  Just like the one we had at the Rambargh Palace in Jaipur.  Some kurma dish.  Aloo Ghobi.  Palak Paneer. My favourite.  A chicken gravy dish. Mom and dad loved this one.  Naan basket: Cheese Naan, Butter Naan and Garlic Naan  Yoghurt.  Almond Kulfi. This was as good as my usual one in Chennai.  They even had room after room of separate seating areas for different g...
