Liebster Blog Award

 This blog of mine has been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award.
Honestly when I first heard about it I was completely clueless as to what it was until I read this post.
Much appreciation to Snuffles Jay who brought this my way.
:)
Now what exactly is this Liebster Award? "Liebster" in direct translation from German, means "dearest". Imagine being someones dearest blog :')
Well there are a couple of rules that need to be followed once nominated.

- Write 11 things about yourself.
- Answer the 11 questions that your nominator has set for you.
- Make your own questionnaire for your nominees.
- Declare your nominees.
- Comment on your nominees latest blog post.

It really is that simple.

So without further ado, here are the 11 things about me;

  1. I'm a twenty-one year old, first year medical student, studying way down south in Malaysia.
  2. I was born on the 14th of February. No that is not a date of any war.
  3. I'm pretty obsessed with anything that has "Keep Calm and Carry On" on it.
  4. It would be a dream come true to be able to work with the Doctors Without Borders team someday.
  5. I'm rather well accomplished on the pianoforte.
  6. I'm an Indian (by race not nationality). I'm a Christian. But my name confuses many people.
  7. I started blogging in 2008. It began with a novel I was working on, which I eventually wanted published. But alas circumstances changed and progress on my first blog stopped midway. So I continued with a second, personal blog and haven't stopped writing since.
  8. Good English is a major, major turn on. Looks automatically become secondary.
  9. I absolutely love traveling. The first time I traveled alone was to the UK. I went back there in 2010, about 12 years after spending 3 years of my childhood there as my parents were studying.
  10. I guess you could say that I'm a very adventurous person by nature. Adventurous in the sense that I love exploring new places. Places with good food, places to hang and chill out with friends, places that photograph well, etc.
  11. I don't wear my heart on a sleeve. I may love you to bits but I will rarely ever show it.

Now these are the questions my nominator has set for me;

1.      If you could travel anywhere in the world and money was no object, where would you go? Why?
      I'd love to travel either to remote places in Africa or India. The main reason why I chose to do medicine was to be able to help people and assist people medically. If I could go to these places, I'd do just that.
2.      If you had to live in a decade other than the current one, which would you choose? Why?
      In a decade, huh. Well I suppose it would be during the Victorian Era. I've always wondered what it would be like for women at the time.
3.      Any current events capturing your attention as of late?
      Nothing in particular, unfortunately. Except maybe for the country's upcoming General Elections. Would be nice to have opposition take over for a change.
4.      Sailboat or cruise ship?
      Sailboat.
5.      Your life is going to become a script for a movie. Who would you want to play you?
      Deepika Padukone. Heheheheheheh.
6.      Not counting family…what do you feel your greatest accomplishment is so far in life?
      To be completely independent (except maybe financially since I'm not working yet). To be able to do things for myself without having to reluctantly depend on anyone at all unless absolutely necessary.
7.      Pushpins? Or dry erase markers?
     Umm. Neither.
8.      Which anime character would you be? Why?
      Oh dear. I don't watch anime. Lol. But I'd be any anime character that is strong.
9.      Something that you learned recently.
      Oh lots! But definitely to not trust anyone except yourself when it comes to matters of the heart.
10.  How many pairs of shoes do you have? Don’t lie. It’s good to feel the shame. Let it burn.
      Thirteen. I have thirteen pairs of shoes.
11.  What are the best and worst about blogging?
       Best part is that you can share experiences and have the whole world as your audience. You might even be able to help someone in similar conditions as yourself. Worst part is if you blog about someone and they take it to heart, things can and will become very messy.

My questionnaire;
  1. What is your highest aim or goal in life?
  2. Disneyland or Universal Studios?
  3. What is marriage to you?
  4. Are men and women really equal?
  5. What made you start blogging?
  6. Are you in favour of euthanasia? What are your views on it?
  7. Bollywood or Hollywood?
  8. Cats or dogs?
  9. Any phobias?
  10. What course are you studying and why did you choose it?
  11. What charity would you support when you eventually make it big someday?
My nominees are;

Sunil - PERFECTION for being original
Tony - JOHOR KAKI for bringing all that good food around Johor onto the blogosphere
Joanna - Twenty-one for sharing experiences

Fingers crossed!

Table Topics: Judgement & Understanding

Took one of my classmates out today coz she needed to get some things. She's been through a lot. Nothing I will disclose here but we had a pretty long chat in the car once we got back. And it's really true what they say about never judging someone before getting to know them. She opened up to me about everything that was going on. How she felt about things. How she was dealing with things. And at the end of the day it all boils down to understanding. There's a reason behind the things people do. It's simply a matter of accepting that reason and understanding them for it and them helping them get through it. You hear stories about married couples going through a divorce. It's really not an option anyone should think about after marriage. After all it's for better or for worse, right? But what if sometimes it becomes too much to bear? What if sometimes things get impossible to handle? What if that's the reason divorces happen in the first plac

To Date.

I've recently been nominated for the Liebster Blog Award thanks to a friend of mine I've only known via Facebook for some years now. The blog post for that is still being drafted. I've been posed some pretty tricky questions /;) Haven't been blogging as frequently as I used to coz I didn't bring my laptop back home this time round. Didn't think I'd have much use for it. Things have been a little...crazy here to say the least. I'm actually twenty-one now. Though I must say, the word 'freedom' was never synonymous with this age. All I ever related to this milestone was responsibility. Funny. It's been such a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I could never completely describe it. I've been thinking about how I've celebrated my birthdays all these years. Two birthdays I celebrated away from home. My eighteenth, which was in the UK with Aunty M and Uncle T, and my twentieth, which was in Johor with my classmates and a once

Confessions Of A Med Student

Everyone knows how tough medicine can be. Not just as a profession but also to study. I knew it would be stressful. I knew. But that's about all I was told. Now that I'm experiencing it, it's a whole different story. Our days are long. Our weekends fly by within the blink of an eye. There are never ending tests, exams, assignments, presentations, role play sessions and lab sessions. Classes start at eight every day five days a week. We finish at five on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. On Fridays we finish at one and on Wednesdays at three, followed by extra co-curricular activities from five to seven in the evening. Tuesdays are test days for Biochemistry. After every unit we're given a short test to see where we stand which keeps us on our toes. We have role play sessions on Mondays and Fridays. Presentations can be on any given day. Assignments are a day to day thing. Questions, essays. And when I say essays I mean pages and pages of what you've studi
