This Week & Last

We finally had our Student Body Council Election on Monday of this week. Campaigning was done throughout last week. Posters were printed and put up, manifestos were spread and some even achieved before due time. And on D-Day we made our choice. Everything went really well and I think we're all pretty happy with the new board. I've officially been elected as Public Relations Director of the Student Body Council. Couldn't have asked for a better post. Our first even will be coming up in a few months. Can't wait to start meeting people and start setting things up! A few of us helped decorate the campus for Diwali. Sam came up with a beautiful kolam design. Took us two whole days to finish it. Amazing, isn't it? Everyone was really, very impressed by it. Had a 'lighting-up' ceremony this morning. Management joined us and some of us said a few words. Yesterday was Club Promotion Day. All the clubs on campus were given two ho

Politics.

I have never fully understood the concept of what goes on behind the scenes in politics until today. And I will forever be disgusted by it.  By the levels some people are willing to stoop just to have their names embellished on gold tags that will be paraded around campus on their chests. Our university is having our very first Student Body Council election. There was a meeting last week informing us about the process. All interested candidates (for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer) were to nominate themselves today within the time frame given and all candidates must be Year 2 medical students only. See. I had no intention of actually becoming a part of the Student Body in the first place. Of course I wanted to be able to handle something. I wanted to be President. I wanted to lead just like how it was back during my school days. But after I got to know which classmates of mine were planning to run for said posts, I decided to just lay low and perhap

Up, up, update!

It's only the 4th week and already we're all really tired. Things are going fantastic, though.  Aside from the assignments and presentations we're working on, we're still finding time to go out once a week and get away from it all for a while.  The past week had us all busy with a badminton tournament some of my classmates organized. I've never been one to play badminton let alone watch matches but here I was, sitting at the side of the court as an umpire :P  They briefed us on the rules and regulations and I have to say it was pretty fun. Planning to get a racket this weekend and start playing every Saturday. Gonna book one of the courts nearby for a couple of hours just to sweat it all out. Some form of exercise at least. Not much time to use the treadmill every evening after class what with our schedule being as such. Hmm. I feel like things are slowly falling into place after such a long time. (I hope I didn't just jinx it.) Still

The "Kins"

The year was 2067.  Pumpkin, Munchkin, Kinkin, Berrykin and Keykin were the very best of friends. They met on campus, the first year of their degree and they clicked almost instantly. Over the course of several months, Pumpkin, Munchkin, Kinkin, Berrykin and Keykin spent many nights out together, exploring the new city they were living in, looking for places to frequent in the future. They shared a lot of their secrets with each other and because of this, Kinkin always thought they'd stay friends long after finishing their degree, but Munchkin thought otherwise. He said nothing ever lasts and that no matter how close people are as friends, things would inevitably change. And that's exactly what happened. Slightly less than a year into their friendship, Pumpkin suddenly withdrew herself from the others.  Kinkin realized this sudden change and approached Munchkin, asking him what the matter was with Pumpkin. Munchkin said he had no idea. Next, Kinkin went to Berr
